What makes this Base64 to Image converter handy

True type detection

The type is read from the decoded bytes rather than the label, so mislabelled data URIs still save correctly.

Accepts messy input

Data URIs, raw Base64, URL-safe Base64, line breaks and missing padding are all fine.

Instant preview

See the picture and its dimensions before you download.

Private

Decoding happens entirely in your browser – safer for images and tokens copied from logs or APIs.

Questions & answers

How do I turn a Base64 string into an image?

Paste it in above. If it's a valid image, the preview appears immediately and you can download it with the right extension.

Does it need the data:image/… prefix?

No – full data URIs and bare Base64 both work. Without a prefix, the type is detected from the content.

What if the Base64 isn't an image?

You can still download the decoded file. PDFs are recognised automatically; anything else downloads as a .bin file.

Do my files get uploaded anywhere?

Never. The work is done by JavaScript running in your own browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server or kept anywhere, which makes it safe for personal photos and sensitive data – and it carries on working even on a patchy connection.
